It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former director Stewart Farmer after a long illness.
A lifelong Morton supporter, Stewart was instrumental in the creation of Morton Club Together (MCT) and served as one of the directors of MCT before taking his place on the football club board. He played a key role in the development of MCT and in the takeover of the football club by the community.
As a Morton director he contributed to the turnaround of the club on and off the pitch, as the early days of MCT ownership saw the team move away from the relegation zone and challenging for the promotion play offs, while off the pitch the club turned regular six figure losses into annual profits.
He was justifiably proud of the early successes of community ownership at Cappielow and of the part he played in that.
He stepped aside from his role as his health deteriorated, but still attended Cappielow as often as he was able. He was always keen to find out what was happening at the club both on and off the pitch.
Stewart leaves behind his wife Helen, a daughter and two sons.
Rest in peace Stewart. The heartfelt condolences from all the Morton community go to his family at this difficult time.
