MCT Annual General Meeting Report - 20th August 2025

Annual General Meeting of Morton Club Together, 20th August 2025.

Having agreed with the membership at our General Meeting of 2nd June 2025 that it would be beneficial to bring the Annual General Meeting forward from its previous timing (the last AGM was held on 7th November 2025), Morton Club Together (MCT) held its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Cappielow Park supported by Dalrada Technology UK on the evening of 20th August 2025. The meeting was chaired by David Whitton, who was assisted online by Chris Samson for the benefit of those not attending in person.

David opened the meeting by welcoming those present and online, acknowledging that since the last AGM, there had been a number of directors working to support MCT and wishing to extend his thanks to each- Stuart Duncan, Chic Kavanagh, David McCluskey, Sandra MacGregor, Graham McLennan, Ronnie Millar, Tom Tracey, George Wall. David also wished to thank Chris, who would be standing down after this meeting.

Directors Report

The members were advised that total contributions to Greenock Morton Football Club (GMFC) for the last twelve months were £174,855, which were down from £193,388 in the previous twelve. This was owed in part to a patron coming to the end of their agreed term. A donation was also made to Morton in the Community (MITC) in order that they can purchase season tickets for those who otherwise could not afford to do so.

In late 2024, a survey was conducted in order to understand the priorities of the membership. It was concluded that the main priorities were to ensure we have a debt free club and can fund the first team.

The Operational Teams set up in 2024 helped produce a 150 th anniversary coin, which provided an excellent memento for fans as well as delivering funds to the club, as well as planning for a membership drive and a drive to provide opportunities for businesses.

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team started working in conjunction with MITC in order to create awareness and deliver initiatives such as the family section in the Allan McGraw Main Stand.

Volunteers also continued to support the club in several areas, and MCT’s gratitude was extended to them also. However, with the Operational Teams largely being on hold in recent months, a desire was expressed to get them fully up to speed in the aftermath of the AGM.

It was acknowledged that we cannot avoid discussing what happened in May, and while the details were not spoken about in length due to their very public and often discussed nature, it was accepted that there needs to be a renewed focus on openness, transparency and cooperation with members and between both the boards of MCT and GMFC in order to avoid a repeat in the future.

Since the Dalrada sponsorship was secured, the membership subscription drive has seen 25 new members signing up, 6 following a GMFC email, 115 members increase their subscriptions, and in July MCT were able to make an additional £1000 payment to the club, which will be matched by Dalrada.

Financial Report

MCT’s Current Assets at the end of the financial year on 31 st May 2025 sat at £16,672, down from £33,817 the previous year. These assets were in the form of creditors, so a positive development.

Operating income and outgoings for the financial year were £193,983, compared to £200,781 the previous year. The directors who held office in the year past are those listed above that were thanked by David, along with himself and John Keen, and Brian and Scott Gillan, who resigned from the board following the last AGM on 7 th November 2024.

Directors’ Elections

It was confirmed that David Whitton was re-elected to the board, joining John Keen and the following newly elected directors:

  • Stuart Campbell
  • Brian Farren
  • Russell Gordon
  • Robert McCahill
  • Dean McKinnon

All candidates were elected having received more votes in favour than against. Approximately 33% of the membership that is eligible to vote did so.

Proposed Amendments to the Articles of Association

Two proposals were made to the Articles of Association. Firstly, a change to the wording of Section 19.3 to identify MCT as a company rather than a charity. This was passed unanimously. Secondly, it was proposed that under article 19.5, that any member who fails to pay their annual subscription, either by monthly payments or a one-off donation will have their membership revoked. This proposal was rejected by those present and online.

This concludes the report from the AGM of MCT, 20th August 2025.

Furthermore, the new board have had positive discussions in the weeks since the AGM and with to share the roles and responsibilities that we’ve set out for each other within the MCT Board. All Operations Teams will be headed up by one director, with the support of another director, and further updates will be provided in due course.
