MCT Member Update 12th November

MCT Member Update 12th November

Dear members,

We hope you’re well and enjoyed last week’s win away at Dunfermline. Whether you were at East End Park or watching at home, your support is always appreciated.

Today's update sees us bring you up to speed on some of our plans from MCT for the next few months, along with some important information from the club if you're planning to attend Cappielow tomorrow.

Club Updates

Kilmarnock at Cappielow

If you’re attending this week’s home match against Killie, our first against them since that memorable day in 2007, at Cappielow or watching at home on TonTV then there’s some things to highlight.

First of all, it looks as though it'll be one of our biggest home crowds of the season. You won't want to miss out on being there.

Digital ticketing is now in place at Cappielow following some successful trials over the past few matchdays, and all the information on how to get your ticket ahead of Saturday can be found here. Tickets can still be purchased right up until kick off at Cappielow (or at Smiths) but you’re encouraged to buy your ticket as early as possible to avoid delays and avoid queuing at the cash gates, which will likely be busier than usual.

With this match falling across the international break, it does mean that the TonTV stream is officially opened back up to Morton fans based in England again. If members weren’t aware, clubs in Scotland have been unable to provide streams for fans based in England this season due to the English FA voting the 3pm - 5pm Saturday afternoon blackout back in. There are instances where streams can be offered to fans based in England, and this weekend is one of those. You can buy your TonTV stream here.

Foodbank at Cappielow

Morton in the Community have organised a foodbank collection at Cappielow on Saturday along with the Inverclyde Foodbank, and fans attending are encouraged to bring along the items requested in the image here and drop them off at either of the collection points from 1.30pm.

A big thank you in advance to everyone helping out.

Third Kit Auction

Fans have the opportunity to bid to sponsor a player’s third kit and be presented with it, signed, at the end of the season.

The third kit is the first bearing the Morton Club Together logo, and all money raised from this goes straight back into the club. The auctions start at £50 and you’ve got until the 21st of November to get involved. You can find the McTears auction link here.

Morton Club Together Updates

Director Update

If you missed our previous update, Aidan Tracey has sadly had to step down as an MCT director. We’re now seeking a new candidate to come forward and be nominated by at least 12 MCT members to join the MCT board. If more than one individual receives enough nominations there will be a member vote to determine the new director. We’ll update more on that in the next few weeks.

If you’d like to play a role in moving Morton forward and contributing to the future success of Morton Club Together, this is your chance. Members have until Thursday 18th November to come forward and for all the nominations to be received. All member nominations for director candidates should be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Morton Club Together Meets

We’re in the process of organising dates and times for in-person and Zoom meetings to give members, and Morton fans who haven’t decided to join us yet, the opportunity to chat to us to find out more or ask anything you want to.

We see this as a big part of our future plans to ensure we’re reaching and engaging with as many members and potential members as possible. We’re committed to making sure all voices are heard and everyone has the opportunity to play a part in the future of our football club.

We’ll communicate round with the details once they’re finalised. We're potentially looking at the first week in December for the first one.

MCT Podcast

We're aiming to launch an MCT Podcast which we hope will give you more of an insight into MCT and an intro to the team of volunteers helping across MCT, what we’re all focusing on right now, and what we’re going to focus on in the future. Keep an eye out for that coming soon.

Directors, Chris and Sam, were looking forward to appearing on the Just One Cornetto Podcast this week, but unfortunately that recording was cancelled by the hosts after we explained we wouldn't be discussing anything about individual club employees. If you had any questions you'd submitted for the recording, please don't hesitate to ask them at any time through the usual channels or via the below.

MCT/GMFC Feedback Loop

We’ve reinstated the Feedback Loop.

This is a way for MCT members to raise issues, questions and queries that MCT will then take forward to the club to find out answers on and ensure actions are being taken across a number of areas that are important to our members.

It’s an important part of the way forward for the governance structure of MCT and the football club, with accountability and visibility at the heart of it. The club will be community owned, but not community run as we’ve said. While there will likely be some questions that can be answered by the MCT representatives on the football club board, some points may be more geared towards the day-to-day running of the football club, led by club General Manager, Chris Ross. Answers can't be provided to questions around contractual matters, sensitive commercial information or individual club employees.

We've started the process off by providing some background to some of the key areas we've been asked about in recent months. You can find it on the MCT website here.

Thanks, and enjoy the match this weekend.
