The directors of Morton Club Together (MCT) are pleased to announce that George Wall has been appointed to the board of directors filling the position vacated by Graeme Gurney.
The board have taken the decision to co-opt George using clause 14.7 of the articles at this time. He will then stand for election along with any other interested candidates at the MCT AGM later this year.
The MCT Board believe that George will be a strong candidate to fill the vacant role. George has been involved with MCT at various stages in the journey over the last few years and was also instrumental in assisting in the project to have a local primary school attend at a home match at the end of season 2022/23. He is currently a trustee of Children in Poverty Inverclyde, engaging with the local community.
George will bring a wealth of experience to the board. He has held senior management roles in IBM covering a range of disciplines, including IT security, business compliance and fulfilment across the globe. From a Morton perspective, George was a member of the small team that set out with the vision to set up Morton in the Community.
He was also product of the Morton youth setup at 17 years of age but never quite made a senior appearance (due to a player called Andy Ritchie). George went on to have a successful career within the junior football ranks winning every available trophy.
On being appointed to the Board, George said, “I strongly believe in the journey that MCT has been on to date and look forward to the opportunity to help shape the future direction. I will look to utilise my skills and experience to help the current Board and look forward to working with them all.”
MCT Chair, David McCluskey added, “We’re delighted to have George joining the MCT Board and this is a further step in strengthening the team we have on top of bringing Graham McLennan back on board as an advisor.”
