MORTON Club Together has announced the results of its membership survey.
Over 400 individuals completed the questionnaire, a response rate of 40 per cent, and the board would like to thank everyone who took the time to do so. The questions covered a range of key topics, including how your contributions should be spent, communication, our ownership aims and the long-term future of Cappielow Park.
A number of key themes and clear priorities have emerged from your responses, which were collated and then discussed by the MCT board. The highest response rate was for Greenock Morton FC to be run as a sustainable, debt-free club in community ownership. Participants also highlighted the need for MCT to increase its membership pool. Other key findings include:
- A clear expectation from members that funding for the first team should be maintained as MCT's primary goal in the immediate term;
- A desire to see long-term planning for the future of Cappielow;
- A need for stronger communication from MCT rep(s) on the GMFC board.
The findings are helping to guide our work in developing MCT through its various Operational Team pillars and the day-to-day work of the board. For example, we are setting up a Cappielow Development Team which will take forward the wish of members to see plans put in place about the future of the ground we own. We have also been improving lines of communication between the boards of GMFC and MCT, through more regular joint meetings and dialogue. Meanwhile the Membership Development Team is targeting growth, with a commercial membership scheme one of the ideas which is already being pursued.

As well as issuing the results online, and directly to our members via email, we would also like to continue the engagement process. We are inviting MCT members to an information session which will discuss the insights from the survey - and offer the chance for you to ask questions and have your say about the next steps.
This will take place in the Hospitality Lounge at Cappielow on Monday 14 April, from 6.30pm.
Graham McLennan, co-chair of Morton Club Together, said: "MCT is committed to gathering the views of its members on an ongoing basis and using that feedback to guide our strategy.
"Membership engagement, and addressing your priorities, is vitally important and we want to continue doing that as we look to develop the club and Cappielow for the benefit of all supporters and the community at large.
"Thank-you to everyone who answered the survey questions. We look forward to speaking with our fellow MCT members at the information session next month and hearing what they have to say."
*MCT would like to thank board member Jon Keen for his work devising the survey, and associate director David Whitton, who compiled the analysis document for members.
